Job Title: Executive/Advocacy Officer

Objective

The need has been identified for a full-time, dedicated Advocacy Officer to perform the tasks and assume the responsibilities required to actively promote the objectives of TCCI for the benefit of its membership as a whole.

The proposed Advocacy Officer would represent and report directly to the Council.

Proposed Key Activities

The Advocacy Officer's role would entail the following key activities: * Represent TCCI at public events and activites e.g. Economic Summits, Workshops where directed by Council * Reviewing proposed, and existing, government measures which affect TCCI member businesses where directed by Council * Researching and proposing new legislation, or changes to existing legislation, to improve the business/economic climate in Tonga; * Liaison as directed by Council with other business associations in and outside of Tonga; * Liaison as directed by Council with government and non-government agencies; and * Act as the point of contact for TCCI members to communicate with the TCCI Council. * Other key activities that may be decided upon by Council

Terms of Reference

*Relevant Degree in Business Administration, Business Law, Government/Economic Policy, or related fields; or equivalent in appropriate work experience. *Fluency in spoken and written Tongan language. - *Fluency in spoken and written English language. *Experience and/or demonstrable skill in public speaking and debate. * Basic computer skills in word-processing, spreadsheets, email, internet research. * Highly-organized with excellent time management skills and research ability. * Able to write effective proposals and produce informative summary reports. *Able to travel locally and internationally, frequently and/or upon short notice, as necessary.

Terms of Employment

* Full-time, salaried position at $25-35,000 TOP per year, with annual salary review * Other employment benefits to be awarded as deemed appropriate by the Council.
