Ha'apai
Just north of the Tongatapu group and 30 minutes by plane, are the picturesque islands of Ha'apai where you will feel that time has stopped. In Ha'apai, there are no traffic, no crowds, only peace and tranquility. Just grab some snorkels and flippers or diving gear and discover the coral reefs. Try kayaking, as this image of paradise allows for all sort of watersports in any tide. Horseback riding on the beach is also available.
Ha'apai is known for it's sandy beaches and abound lobsters. You can try one of the local restaurants where a lobster can be served to your liking. Don't miss a walk around the capital of Lifuka on the main island. Visit the Shirley Baker monument or just enjoy the slow pace of life. Sandy Beach Resort (Ha'apai) Situated on a secluded beach, with the nearest village 1.5 km away. The resort is a 12 fale (Tongan word for bungalow) setting built on a most beautiful sandy beachfront where you will enjoy the best sunset views either on the beach just metres away from your fale or in the comfort of your fale.
The tiled rooms have either a king size bed or 2 single beds and own bathrooms with hot water. The fale's have fridges, clock radio, tea & coffee making facilities. Lindsays Guest House (Ha'apai)
Lindsay's has 12 rooms - eight with shared facilities and four with private facilities. There's a kitchen where you can cook your own meals, or you may go next door to Lindsay Cafe and have it prepared for you. A grocery shop and bakery are on the site. Bicycles are for hire at $8 a day. Indicative prices: Single $20-$45, double $30-$45, family room $50. Go to Reservations
