The capital Nuku'alofa, in Tongatapu is your first destination when travelling to the Kingdom. The highlights of this island group are its many choices of accommodation, great restaurants and cafes. Its flea markets are most famous among the visiting long-stay locals.
The royal palace is in downtown Nuku'alofa and a must see when you are here. You can explore a few caves and hire a boat to a secluded nearby island. As the Tongans are not known to be beach culture people, you may still find a beach all to yourself.
After spending a few days on Tongatapu with its ancient and historical attractions such as the Trilithon, natural coral bridge, and so on, you are free to visit the beautiful and famous Vava'u, idyllic Ha'apai, and unexploited 'Eua.
