Vava'u Vava'u is a group of 40 islands that is further up north after the Ha'apai group.The islands has been said to be one of the most beautiful in the South Pacific. It provides safe anchorages in a secluded harbour of coral reefs and crystal-clear waters which you can dive with extraordinary visibility.   You can explore caves, tunnels, drop offs, corals and harbour wrecks. Tonga is known for great fishing and you can hire a boat in Nuku'alofa or Vava'u for tuna, marlin, wahoo or mahi mahi is abound. Vava'u is most famous for it's whale watching experience where it is probably the only place where you are allowed to swim with a humpback whale.
